Terms And Conditions

Thank you for choosing Ye Olde Red Lion for your stay in the Chieveley. We look forward to welcoming you.

By making a booking to stay with us, you are entering a legal contract that is subject to the following terms and conditions:

General Booking Information

  • Bookings can be made by telephone, email or by using our online booking system.
  • We cannot accept online bookings less than 24 hours before arrival. Please contact us direct by telephone.
  • A minimum stay of 1 consecutive night applies throughout the year.
  • Please let us know of any special requirements at the time of booking e.g. special diets/allergies and we will do our utmost to accommodate them.
  • We are unable to accommodate babies or children under the age of 12.
  • Sorry we are unable to accommodate pets except assistance dogs.
  • Our prices indicated on our website are per bedroom and include full English breakfast and VAT.
  • We accept cash and the following charge, credit and debit cards; MasterCard, Delta, Diners Club, Electron, JCB, Maestro, UK Maestro and Visa.


  • In order to secure the reservation, a valid credit or debit card details must be provided at the time of booking.
  • Full payment of the reservation will be debited from the credit or debit card provided at the time of booking or shortly after.
  • Bookings made online or via online travel agents may be subject to differing terms and conditions in force at the time of booking. This is to protect your security in carrying out the booking and providing credit card details over the internet.
  • Your booking is fully refundable up to two days before your arrival, if you cancel after this period, we reserve the right to charge for a nights stay.
  • We would only cancel your booking if your room was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would however attempt to offer you alternative accommodation.
  • Should it become necessary for us to cancel a booking we will contact you immediately. Any payments made will be refunded in full. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.
  • If a booking is taken out for a specific room and the room reserved is required to meet a specific guest needs or rendered unusable via circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to transfer the booking to an alternative room of similar quality.

Booking Confirmation

  • After making a booking you will receive confirmation by email. If for any reason you do not receive this, please contact us as soon as possible.
  • Please check all booking information is correct and inform us of any amendments that need to be made.
  • An email reminder of your booking will be sent 7 days prior to arrival.

Arrival & Departures

  • Our normal arrival time is between 4:00pm and 7:00pm.
  • A booking reminder email is usually sent 7 days prior to your stay. We would be grateful if you can either let us know or confirm your approximate time of arrival when making your booking.
  • If for any reason this changes please let us know by phone as soon as possible. You can also request modifications or cancellations online using your booking pin number.
  • If you would like to check in before 4:00pm then please contact us by telephone to discuss your requirements. We will do our utmost to accommodate an early check in. However we are a small business and therefore not always be able to offer this.
  • If for any reason an early check in is no longer required please let us know as soon as possible.
  • If on the day of arrival you are delayed please contact us by telephone with an estimated time of arrival.
  • We expect guests to vacate their room by 10:00am on the morning of departure.
  • Sorry we are unable to offer a late check out.
  • Please ensure all keys are returned on departure. A charge of £5.00 per key will be charged if keys are lost or not returned.

During Your Stay

  • Our aim is to offer all our guests a relaxing and tranquil stay and we kindly ask guests to respect the quiet enjoyment and relaxation of other guests.
  • Housekeeping: We carry out our housekeeping and room cleaning between 9.30am to 12 noon each day and will require access to your room during this time. If you are planning on being out during these hours, please let us know when we can have access.
  • Visitors to rooms: Guests are not permitted to have visitors to their rooms without our prior agreement.
  • Accidents happen: Please let us know immediately of any damage or spillage so that we can attempt a speedy repair or clean. Spillages are more easily rectified the sooner they are dealt with. Any significant breakage or damage may result in a charge for replacement, repair or specialist cleaning. If the damage means the room cannot be made available in good time for the next arriving guests, you may also be liable for our loss of income.
  • Missing / Lost items: Any item taken from the rooms without our consent will be charged for. Lost keys, or keys not returned, will incur a £50 charge.
  • Liability: We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves.

Disabled Access

  • We offer one double room with assisted access.

Wi-Fi Access

  • By using our Wi-Fi Service you automatically agree to the terms and conditions of use in force at the time.


  • We have a no-smoking policy throughout all the rooms and within the pub.
  • Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is NOT permitted.
  • there is a dedicated sheltered smoking area outside in the car park.
  • Please note that the offending guests may be asked to leave immediately and may be liable for professional cleaning of any rooms and any outstanding balance of nights booked but not taken through early departure.


  • We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. This does not affect bookings already made.

Termination Policy

  • Ye Olde Red Lion reserve the right, at its discretion, to terminate, without notice, an individuals stay where deemed necessary through unacceptable behaviour or as a result of actions which are likely to endanger or offend others (Please note that non compliance of our non smoking policy may constitute termination). In such circumstances any outstanding account must be settled, no refunds will be made.

We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.

You acknowledge and agree that all intellectual property rights (including, but not limited to, copyrights (including rights in software), trademarks, database rights, patents and inventions) in and relating to the service are owned by us and our licensors or contractors. Nothing in this agreement operates to transfer any such intellectual property rights to you.

We reserve the right to assign or sub-contract any of our rights and obligations under this agreement without notice to you.

If any provision of this agreement is found to be unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other provisions shall nevertheless remain in full force and effect.

This agreement is governed by the laws of England and the parties hereto submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
